A 1-Day Intermediate Hands-On Practicum Course
Combining Biofeedback & Neurofeedback: An Integrative Approach
This is a hands-on, experiential course for practitioners wanting to learn about an integrative approach to working with your clients/patients while developing increased confidence in your use of the Nexus/BioTrace system. We will engage in multiple practice sessions using both general biofeedback (HRV, temp, GSR), and neurofeedback with an emphasis on learning everything there is to know about the system. There will be only minimal lecture to introduce screen concepts and usage to maximize hands-on practical experience.
Expected Participant Outcomes:
- Participants will learn to implement a whole person approach to biofeedback using all modalities
- Participants will have a clear understanding of the integration of biofeedback and neurofeedback and when to introduce each component of this approach
- Participants will leave feeling confident in the use of Nexus equipment including the use of common sensors.
- Participants will leave feeling confident in navigating and using the BioTrace software.
"Proper brain function occurs when both sides of the brain communicate without interruption and work together. If the brain has a communication problem, major cognitive, motor, and social issues can occur. Agenesis of the corpus callosum (AgCC) is a congenital disorder in which the corpus callosum linking the two sides of the brain does not develop fully. As a result, incomplete brain function occurs in children, leaving them and their parents with very few treatment options. However, new research is beginning to show that biofeedback could be the answer."
